We want to make quality dental care affordable, accessible, and as stress-free as possible. Read more below to find a short guide to dental insurance coverage and learn how we can help.
How Dental Insurance Works

Dental insurance is a system designed around prevention instead of resolution. This means it’s more effective to use it to keep smaller issues from worsening rather than treating more complex ones.
You’ll likely have a deductible that must be met before your provider starts paying out, as well as an annual maximum amount they’ll pay each year. Unlike medical insurance, dental benefits don’t “roll over,” so it’s smart to use them before they expire.
Most plans operate on a 100-80-50 structure:
- 100% coverage for preventive care like cleanings, exams, and x-rays
- 80% coverage for basic procedures like fillings
- 50% coverage for major work like crowns or dentures
However, this can vary between plans and providers, so it’s always best to check before you use your benefits. At RidgeGate Dental of Parker, we’re happy to explain your benefits and help you make the most of your coverage.
What is the Difference Between Dental & Medical Insurance?

Medical insurance focuses on emergencies and long-term illness. Dental insurance, on the other hand, emphasizes prevention. Insurance companies want to pay out the least amount possible, so they prioritize routine checkups, cleanings, and early intervention over root canals, crowns, and extractions in their structure. Dental plans also tend to have lower annual maximums and more predictable costs for services.
In-Network vs. Out-of-Network

“In-network” simply means that we have a contract with your insurance provider to offer set pricing. If we’re “out-of-network” with your company, we don’t have a contract with them. However, that doesn’t necessarily always mean you’ll pay more.
Unlike medical insurance, you’re not penalized for using an out-of-network dentist for dental care. We’re happy to work with both in- and out-of-network patients to make sure you receive great care at a fair price.
In-Network Coverage

At our Parker dentist office, we’re proudly in-network with Cigna and Delta Dental Premier. These partnerships may lower your out-of-pocket costs and simplify the billing process.
Out-of-Network

Not in-network? No problem. We’re still glad to file your claims, help with paperwork, and maximize your dental benefits. Dr. Cote believes everyone deserves great care—regardless of network status.
